Three-Compartment Sink

All restaurants must have a three-compartment sink designated for washing dishes, even if they have an automatic commercial dishwasher. Four-compartment sinks are also available. Most local laws require at least a three-compartment sink and the sinks must be set up to specific FDA standards. All three-compartment sinks are made from stainless steel, but the grade of the steel can determine which sink is more durable. Grade 430 is common in the commercial industry for a lot of stainless steel equipment. Grade 304 is a little more durable.

Gauge is also important when considering a three-compartment sink. Compartment sinks come in gauges between 14 and 22. The lower the gauge, the thicker the steel, which means that it will be more durable (and more expensive).

Smaller Equipment

There are smaller pieces of equipment that a fast food burger restaurant would need. These can include (but not limited to):

  • A commercial grade microwave
  • Ice Dispenser¬†
  • Soda fountain machine, drink cooler, tea brewing machine, or a combination of these
  • A POS system designed for restaurants
  • Cooking utensils, knives, and cookware

Although it can be overwhelming to figure out and purchase all the equipment needed for a fast food burger restaurant, using a list can help with staying focused. Create a budget, focus on the best quality for the money, and your commercial kitchen will be up and running in no time.
